wireless router as an access point

Hello,

Can anyone help me how I can setup a wireless access point to an existing network?

Current Network
Have a modem, router and a switch connected to a leaseline for internet.

I would like to connect a netgear WPN824 (RangeMax wireless router)
to my network as an access point for wireless network.

I have disabled the DHCP server on the netgear router (as advised from the netgear website) and tried to assign a static IP.

Here I encounter a problem.

Do I need to assign the WPN824 an IP from the ISP?

Any suggestions will help.

Steps from default settings:
1. Disable DHCP
2. Assign a valid LAN IP (outside DHCP range iin your main router) to your wireless router
3. Connect wireless router to main router using cable on the LAN (not WAN) port.

Done.

To make life more easy and without disturbing existing Network, just connect the Wireless router's any one of the four LAN port to the switch with a LAN cable. All your wifi computers can access immediately.

For making life further easier make sure IP of the Wireless router is same as of your local network.

I have assigned the WPN824 with a fixed IP.
Configured the gateway to be the current router IP.
Filled in the DNS 1 & 2 provided by the ISP.
Connected the LAN port of the WPN824 to the switch.

Later from a networked computer,
I can enter the router setup page
set up the SSID
set the region to ASIA
channel 6
RIP disabled

But I still do not see any signal from the WPN824
I have the broadcast on
No security enabled

The end user is:
Dell Inspiron notebook
and also WPN111 USB Adapter for a desktop

Any suggestions or opinions will help.
